Acceptable Homework From Darlene Roker, a fifth grade teacher at Vermont Avenue Elementary School: "Teachers with culminating students can be overwhelmed! When I assign a page of math, I determine beforehand which two rows of problems I will check. (I don't inform the students of this.) If most of those problems are correct, the paper is acceptable. If not, when I return the paper, the student can focus on getting just those few problems correct to prove to me that he/she knows the concept." |
